Embarking on a new project…

…. in more ways than one.

In the coming months (starting today!), I’m moving house, state and job and to add to the fun, will be taking a long road trip across the US southwest and going home to India to see family and friends. I’m not sure how regularly I’ll be able to post here, but am carrying my laptop, camera, needles and yarn (what more does a person need, really!) so do keep checking back. You might see more photos of monuments, national parks, moving boxes and my mum’s cooking than knitting, because apart from my hometown, which is in the hills, most places I’ll be visiting in India are going to be bloody hot  all through August.

But in simpler knitting terms, here’s a new project: Koigu socks in a cloverleaf pattern. I can’t sing enough praises of this yarn!

Were you looking at that pink when we were there? It’s lovely, in any case.

I’m currently a bit worried that I’m not going to be allowed to knit on my flight to Australia. Argh. I hope you’ll have better luck.

    And see you soon!

Good luck on the move and enjoy your road trip, the southwest is one of my favorite parts of the US. Very desolate and dreamy. Marj

    Thanks, Marj!

Spud, won’t they allow you to take even bamboos? I’ve usually had no problems on my flights home. And I think I was coveting this pink….see you soon!

Wow! What an eventful summer planned for you – I think socks is the perfect project for a hot Indian summer so don’t stop working on that project. And that shade of pink is perfect!

    Good luck!

Love to see your trip around India. Which part is home?

My husband made a huge face when I wanted to take my knitting along on our trip to the East Coast. He insisted that the TSA wouldn’t let me take my needles on board. “You might have to just ditch it right there. Are you willing to do that?” Four years worth of knitting nothing were at stake. So I left it behind only to find out that none of my friends have ever had problems carrying their needles on board an aircraft.

Looking forward to meeting you next weekend! Drive safely!

Kelli, I hope I can simply manage to hold the yarn! I’ll be visiting Delhi and Calcutta, where the summers are murder.
Manisha, that reminds me, I must go get a set of bamboo needles. I have these thin, metal ones for my socks right now which they might take away. But I’ve never had any problems with needles on planes, so you should definitely take yours the next time!

Have fun in your travels and good luck with the move. I just finished mine and now that I’ve had a few days of “downtime” I’m feeling happier about it all. Be safe.

As far as the sock goes, it’s lovely. Where does the cloverleaf pattern come from?

  • desiknitter says:

Bev, I got the cloverleaf pattern from one of the Barbara Walker treasuries, probably the first one… was that what you meant?
I’m going to tinker with it a little bit, though, let’s see what comes of it.
