One of my friends did a huge driving trip around the southwest and west, and found the Grand Canyon a little disappointing after the glories of Zion and Bryce. Grand, yes, but lacking the intricate detail and beauty of the others. But I'm glad you're having a good time! Nice color composition in these pictures!

And I can see where you got your knitting talent from :) Vegas--it's interesting--but if you don't see it it's not the end of the world! Actually, if there's one place that's "can't miss" IMHO, it's the Grand Canyon (go to the north rim, though). California is awesome, too, especially the Pacific Coast Hwy. It sounds like you are having a good trip. The socks seem to be coming along well and your mom's baby sweater is nice. As for Vegas, I've been there and unless you're craving a cheap buffet, I vote you skip it. The Sierra Nevada mountains are more beautiful, and will eventually lead you back to some green.
