But you're probably better off with the red (even if it is RED) for that sweater pattern. If you really don't like the red color, you could always overdye it! I think the cables get a little bit lost in the variegated green. Maybe use the forest green to make a stockinette classic like the Hourglass, from Last Minute Knitted Gifts? Also, since when did we desis shy away from bright colors? Isn't that one of the bonuses of having a perma-tan. :) Definitely the crimson. You've swatched the part where the cables are closest together and hardest to see, I think, but my guess is the cables as a whole will stand out nicely. It's hard to say what the overall effect would be, though...The red seems a bit easier because the gauge is correct and you know that the pattern will be visible. If it didn't have any cabling, I'd probably go with the green because it is subtle shading, but I think it obscures the cable on the swatch.
