how did you find the highland silk? Do you think that it's nice to work with and that it would be reasonable in terms of wear? It looks lovely and I was thinking of getting some but as I have a rather 'substantial' stash, I've been restraining myself.

as for angora.. difficult yarn to work with, one needs to have an 'acquired' taste and an ability to not sneeze at ever bit of fluff

It's too bad the angora is *that* fuzzy. A little less and it'd be perfect, but you're right, it obscures the really definite pattern a bit too much.

I've also just tried to turn over a new leaf on knotting tails of swatches and projects, due to having left several half projects off needles for seven months and then being... awfully confused.

Your Highland Silk swatches are absolutely delicious. What a great idea to knot the tail for needle size.

Knotting your swatch tail is SUCH an excellent idea! I keep finding old gauge swatches lying around and can't for the life of me figure out what needle size that I used. My gauge swatches thank you!

I love looking at your swatches. I have a strange fascination with swatches -- what you've been up to actually sounds like fun to me! I agree that the angora obscures the stitch pattern too much. Sarah's Yarns has Mission Falls 1824 wool at 20% off (if you use a coupon, which I could send you), and it comes in lots of colors. Plus, she'll send you swatching amounts for free if you want to try it out. Might that be a good sub?
